Deconstructing the Myth of Sita

Two powerful storytellers take on the complex narrative of Sita in the Ramayana as part of their life’s work. An insightful, compelling conversation on women’s struggle to retain autonomy in a world that privileges men. While the Ramayana resonates even today some questions need exploring – How should women be treated by their loved ones? What are their rights in a relationship? When does a woman need to stand up and say, “Enough!”

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni – author of The Forest of Enchantments recounts the Ramyana through Sita’s perspective as a powerful comment on duty, betrayal, infidelity and honour.

in conversation with

Dr. Anita Ratnam – dancer, vocalist and solo performer of A million Sitas fiercely reclaims the lost soul of Sita and reconfigures the classic myth as a shared trauma for women everywhere.
